Gloves - Fingerless MID-LENGTH | Possum Silk Merino wool

These mid-length cuff fingerless gloves are knitted by Penelope Durston from her Melbourne studio. Incredibly warm but light, they are designed for beauty, comfort and long-lasting wear.

Penelople uses ultrafine ZQ Merino wool, brushtail possum down and mulberry silk that has been specially spun and dyed in New Zealand. Possum fibre is hollow, giving it an exquisitely lightweight and insulating quality. It is also low-pill and anti-static which means these gloves will keep their shape and stay in good form, and is machine-washable.

Lycra yarn is knitted through these gloves for stretch and return, and they fit a wide range of hand sizes, and for long lasting wear. The cuff is stabilised with an elastic yarn.

Adult fingerless gloves will fit a wide range of hand sizes, they will feel firm to start with but will relax with wear. Cuff length 15cm.

NOTE

Please remember colours may not appear accurate! We try our best but the fluff of our yarns can make it difficult to colour match and there may be different settings between devices.

Possum down is harvested from culled feral possums - an introduced species to New Zealad in the 1800s from Australia. With no natural predators in New Zealand, possums have been able to flourish, spreading quickly and wreaking havoc on native flora, fauna and habitats. It is estimated that possums destroy 20 thousand tons of vegetation per night. Possum fur recovery is supported by the Department of Conservation NZ as a way to control of possums for natural heritage protection.
